A New Model for Integrative Healthcare

Big changes are happening at Awaken Wellness! As of February 14, 2025, the business has officially transitioned to a worker-owned cooperative, making it one of the first wellness cooperatives in Maryland and the nation.

Founded in 2009 by Jennifer Stukey, Awaken Wellness has long been a trusted provider of acupuncture, massage, nutrition, and holistic healing in Columbia, Maryland. After 15 years, ownership has now shifted to a dedicated team of practitioners who have been instrumental in shaping the business over the years.

The transition was made possible with the support of Baltimore Roundtable for Economic Democracy (BRED), ensuring a smooth shift to a collaborative, sustainable, and practitioner-led model.

The new cooperative owners share:
